Join us for our inaugural Animal Care and Photography classes.
In the animal care portion our founder Brad King will discuss proper care of factory-compromised animals. We will cover appropriate feed, cleaning, health risks, common health problems, genetic design, health monitoring, general maintenance and crisis management. Animals raised in industry have very special needs and cannot be treated like animals of the same species who have not been genetically altered, we will explain why and what to do about it. This course will be hands-on and dirty!
In the photography portion you will learn how to get amazing photographs of the sanctuary animals. Talented professional photographer and VP Carol Slater will show you how to capture animals in a way that expresses their personalities and interests. Carol will teach you about light and focus, and will even cover methods of photographing animals in accessible areas of the food industry in order to achieve photographs full of compassion and meaning. It doesn’t matter whether you have an expensive professional camera or an iphone, Carol will show you how its done.
This course is a must for anybody wanting to help farm animals in a hands-on way. Whether you want to set up your home for the care of farm animals, be able to take photographs that truly reveal farm animal personalities, or even if you just want to be completely knowledgable about farm animal personalities and issues, you will leave this course with serious skills which will make you a better advocate.\
The fee includes a cooked lunch. Soda and water is available for purchase at the farm, however we suggest that you bring your own water bottle. Prepare to get dirty! A hat, sunscreen and long trousers are strongly recommended. Fully enclosed shoes are essential. This course will begin promptly at 8.00am, we suggest arriving at around 7.30am and it would be prudent to leave your evening free.
We are restricting attendees to 20, so bookings are essential. All participants must be 18 or over.
