Victory! – Visitor Programs to Return in 2018

Farm Animal Rescue visitor programs were suspended in October, 2017 following a Queensland Government ruling that these programs could not continue unless significant improvements were made to the highway outside the sanctuary.

With the support of 43,500 people signing our petition, thousands sending emails, hundreds calling in to government offices, and a crowd attending our petition delivery to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Queensland Government has now established a $1 million Charity Infrastructure Development Fund.

This fund is now available to all charities who find their expansion limited by government infrastructure. It is now possible for any charity to apply to the Department of Transport for a grant that resolves the government infrastructure problem, and of course Farm Animal Rescue is the first recipient of funding.

There are some things you should know about our new visitor program.

We do not yet have a date for our visitor program recommencement. Please follow us on Facebook or Instagram, or sign up to our email alerts, to keep up to date.

Visitor numbers are restricted to 40 per fortnight. This will mean that you will have to book early or be disappointed.

Bookings must be made in advance and ALL visitors must have a ticket to enter. A $5 per ticket reservation fee applies. Visitors who attend without a ticket will be turned away.

Initially, Open Days will only be available to animal sponsors and Supporters Club members. Check out our website for information on joining either of these programs.

Tour groups will be smaller. With a maximum of ten in each group we will be able to better personalise your sanctuary visit experience.

It is only with the generosity of you, our amazing supporters, that the sanctuary visitor program can be reinstated. The program is the cornerstone of our community education efforts and we have missed it so much! We are deeply grateful for the support we have received every step of the way, and for the support that you will give us in the future as we continue to rescue, rehabilitate and educate.

We can’t wait to see you back here so that you can meet our new residents. Sign up for our email alerts on follow us on Facebook or Instagram for further updates.
