The home for rescued farm animals

Imagine a place where animals who've been bred to live short, painful and uncomfortable lives in the commercial food industry… get to live happily and at peace without fear and stress.

That place is Farm Animal Rescue. On 55 acres in the Dayboro Valley, 45 minutes north-west of Brisbane, animals whose destiny was nothing more than an early slaughter so that they could be sold for meat, their fur, fleece or eggs, live their lives free-ranging across hills, paddocks, forests and ponds.

The animals are tended to by a dedicated team of volunteers who provide dawn to dusk care and ensure that, despite the chronic conditions many of the animals arrive with, their lives are happy and comfortable.

Most of all, they are free.

Rescued Cow Cale and Sally

Each and every day we witness first hand the social lives of these rescued animals, their likes and dislikes, and the affect that captivity and selective breeding for the food industry has on these amazing creatures.

When guests visit, our carers tell each animals' story, the trauma they experienced, how they would have been treated by the food industry, and what their lives are like now. Visitors learn about how being bred into the food industry affects these animals' lives.

Farm Animal Rescue

If you visit the sanctuary, you will have many opportunities to get up close and personal with the more than 80 animal residents such as rescued cows, pigs, sheep, goats and chickens who call sanctuary home. Meet the resident animals here
