Update on Qld Animal Care & Protection Act review

Thank YOU to everyone who lodged a submission by 21 May 2021 following our call out to join FAR in advocating for stronger animal protection laws in Queensland.

Queensland’s state government has received more than 2,000 submissions contributing to its current review of the Animal Care & Protection Act (2001 which shows great community engagement in protecting animals.

FAR continues to work with a coalition of animal protection organisations -including Animals Australia, Animal Justice Party, Animal Defenders Office, Animal Liberation Queensland, Animals Need Shade, Animal Welfare League Queensland, Coast to Coast Animal Friends and World Animal Protection- to ensure a strong and coordinated front to change antiquated laws that enable animal cruelty in Queensland. The Courier Mail published an article about the coalition in May and we issued a further media release in June calling for a lifetime ban on serial animal abusers.

We will keep you posted as the matter progresses. Together we WILL create greater protection for farm animals.
